Kimberly S. Oberrecht

Biography

Kimberly S. Oberrecht grew up in Tacoma, Washington. She graduated from the University of Washington in 1994 with a B.A. in Business Administration and earned her law degree in 1997 from California Western School of Law, joining the California Bar the same year.

Kim is a fearless trial attorney with over 28 years specializing in personal-injury defense. Her practice is devoted solely to defense work — hired by large insurance companies and self-insured businesses to take complex liability and damages cases to trial across commercial auto and trucking, personal auto, construction-site accidents, commercial premises liability, and products liability. She is skilled in limiting damages in wrongful death, catastrophic injury, traumatic brain injury, amputation, and spinal or orthopedic cases, and has tried cases across California — from San Diego and El Centro to Orange County, Riverside, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Visalia, San Jose and Sacramento.

Kim has tried over 60 jury trials to verdict on her own, with outstanding results — dozens of defense verdicts on catastrophic-injury liability cases, and multiple low verdicts on admitted-liability matters. She is often asked to “parachute” into a case for trial. Known for a confident, efficient, and effective style, jurors have nicknamed her a “firecracker” and a “commander,” with an uncanny ability to keep a jury engaged.

Outside the courtroom, Kim is a devoted mom of two — her family calls her Superwoman — and enjoys cooking, hiking with her dogs, and traveling whenever she can.
